South Whidbey Art Doll Round Robin
Created on: 2/5, 2009 at 11:23 pm
I don't think there can be such a thing as too much art. Well, maybe there is, but I haven't seen it. Not yet. I'm having such a blast with the Cool-Aberration round robin. I'm so thankful for Gail, for the way she got us all together and for the way she keeps on top of the details. The Cool-Aberration certainly wouldn't be the same without her. I also gots my grateful on for the other players.
This all got me thinking about how it's great and all to play with the women in my group, but I miss the face to face interaction of knowing the people in person, instead of just through email.
And so the South Whidbey Art Doll Round Robin was born. We are six players- Crystal, Tanya, Kate, Ginny Lee, Pam and me. This is going to rock. Thanks, you wonderful women, for coming to play.
Currently reading- This is pretty good so far. I'm roughly three-quarters through it and haven't gotten bored yet. The premise is that this guy bikes a good long way across what ever continent he happens to be on in order to get to the lowest point, usually way below sea level. If you like travel books, I'd say go for it.
I currently have 45 books checked out from the library. 18 of them are art instruction.
Goodbye To My Camera
Created on: 2/2, 2009 at 09:46 pm
For the last couple of years, a camera has been integral to the way I make my living. For that reason, it's one of those things that I like to keep inside the house.
But when I realized that I hadn't taken pictures of my kids outside for almost a year, I decided to get over my fear of breaking or losing my camera. I tucked it into my bag, took some really great pictures of the girls (Aren't they cute?), and all was well. The camera went back into it's spot on my husband's desk and I resolved to do it again.
But the very next weekend when I got home the camera was no longer in my bag. It probably fell out at the park. I turned my house upside down in the looking for it just in case, and after saying every naughty word I know about 50 times each- at a rather loud volume... I said a goodbye to it and wished its new owner well. These things happen.
This is my current read. Actually I finished it this morning. I like a good mystery. I like beads. How could I go wrong with this one, right? Well, the main character was disappointing, flip-flopping from confident and competent to un-nerved and sheepish. The places in the story where she lost faith in herself and questioned her decisions seemed out of character. Grow some balls, wouldja! Made me want to reach in and slap her. Halfway through, I couldn't go on. I flipped to the end to find out who done it.
Then there is this. 128 pages of scrapbooking layouts that aren't all duckies and catcher's mitts. I got a lot of good ideas from this one while doing Dave's journal pages.
Away Goes Eloise
Created on: 11/11, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Eloise is one sweet little doll if I do say so myself. But being that it's closely galloping up on the time whence I turn into a pumpkin, I'm going to skip the chatter and post the finished photos of this tremendous hottie.
And here's the journal portion, upon which I think I outdid myself. A bit cocky? Maybe. But for someone who draws like a kindergartener, it's pretty fucking sweet.
I'm waiting for Dave....
Happy First Try

These are Eloise's wings, and in case there was any doubt, they are the shizzle! I couldn't even wait for decent light to get them up here.
These are what they looked like yesterday, so you can probably see why I'm dancing around about them now. Better pictures tomorrow, yeah?
Working On Eloise
Created on: 11/3, 2008 at 09:36 pm
Eloise started off with Kris in England.
And then went to Roslind in Japan where she got her lovely make-up and hair
And then to Jutta in Australia who put on arms. Jutta has dropped out of the project and those arms kinda showed she was done. They were pastel when the tune of this project is rainbow butterfly. I couldn't resist giving her this colorful accent on her arms. Besides- she's a butterfly goddess. I've never seen a butterfly that didn't have furry arms. Roslind provided her with this awesome hip-wrap. I decided to bump up the color. I had intended to give her a grass-skirt-esque thingy with strands of beads hanging down, but with my shortened time with her, I don't think I'm going to be able to.
This face is unbelievable. Kris did such an excellent job making it and Roslind really did it justice with her work.
I couldn't resist a shot of my lucky seed.
So the other day, my kids are sitting together and playing quietly. They also have a cardboard screen around their laps and are bent into it intently. Uh-oh. I sneak over to see what they are doing... and I found this. Those are lions eating a zebra. Too much Animal Planet perhaps?
